A little dark humor and at least some life lessons...

This place looks very serene dontcha think?

Well, in trying to come up with a name for this post, I considered some of the following:
- I'm a baby duck killer
- Death of a duckling
- _____ eat Baby Duck World
- The Pond Thing
- What Lies Beneath
Anyway, you get the picture. We got to this little park are there were a lot of ducks and 1 duckling. I thought it was so cute so I wanted to get closer so I ran to it. Well duh, of course they are going to run away right? Well the mama and baby waddled into the pond and I was yelling at my mom and aunt to bring Noah over to see the baby duck. Oh it was soooo cute! All of a sudden, there was this commotion and the mama flew back to the edge of the pond and the baby was gone. Never saw it again. I was horrified, especially since I'm the reason they went into the pond in the first place. My aunt made the comment that there are normally a dozen ducklings and so that was the last one that hadn't gotten eaten yet by the Pond Thing. And now he's gone! Poor little guy. The mama duck starting quacking in remorse and Noah started cracking up. He absolutely loved it. And even though I was practically in tears because I had just killed a baby duck I couldn't help but find the humor in the situation...I guess that's life.
On another note, I couldn't believe that the mama just flew off and left her poor little duck to get swallowed by the pond monster. And it really made me reflect on the critical role of the mama (and papa) in a child's life. We can't just leave those little guys out there to get eaten by the wolves--or by the Pond Things--but we need to equip them with the right values and knowledge so they can be prepared to face life.
Ok well...now I feel better that I was able to learn something from this even though I did find it (somewhat) funny after-the-fact.

Well, this would be a great starter fora talk, even if it was very, very, very sad... :(
