When we lived in Cincinnati, we passed this statue every time we drove up to my aunt's house--which was pretty often since she only lived 45 minutes away at that time. Our ritual was to yell "touchdowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwn!" My brother came to visit once--he had heard about the statue so we had to drive up and get a photo shoot. (Noah must have been about a month or 2 old here I think)
Anyway, last night it was struck by lightning and it burned to the ground. Maybe I'm a little insensitive but I can't help but chuckle a little. This statue was so hideous! I've heard they are planning to rebuild it--will they stick to the same design I wonder....?

I agree we don't like it either. I think the money could be used for a better purpose like feeding the hungry and homeless. Have a great day!

I know! I read about it on Yahoo! and I couldn't help but laugh as well! Too funny.
Ah, this story kills me. What an "amazing" icon to be destroyed.
So, I heard about this on the radio! What an interesting story.
