the kids

Maren loves to help load and unload the dishwasher.

The kids love to cuddle with blankets!

Here we are waiting to find out where we matched for residency, and reading the congratulations letter.

Whenever I go anywhere with Maren, people stop us and rave about her. They especially love her white blonde hair. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised, she is completely adorable.

I wish Noah would let me take more pictures of him. Most pictures I get of him you can hardly tell he's in the picture because he's always moving a mile a minute. He's such an amazing kid though--here he is reading a book on the computer. We found this great website called Starfall.com that has stories he can read and learn about reading. He's also really picking up writing. Yesterday I asked Mark to make a sign for a pie party we were having. Noah volunteered instead and I didn't really think about it too much. Next thing I know, he wrote "the pi" and then asked what comes next. I asked him what helps the "i" make a long i sound and he guessed "e." Later that night I looked at the sign and saw he had completed the sign all by himself. It read "the pie prt." I couldn't believe it! Today in church he drew some awesome pictures of Nephi and Lemuel. Unfortunately, I think he glued them together facing each other when we got home from church.

Today I met an old man at the pond by our house. He was raving about Maren (of course) and so I asked him if he had any grandchildren. He said he didn't, he spent all his life skiing and skating and other fun things like that but now he's an old man and doesn't have any family. It sounds like he was married later in his life at one point. He wished he could take Maren home with him (not in a creepy way). It made me really sad for him. He probably had many cool and fun experiences in his life and yet now he is a lonely old man with no family. Kids are hard (especially after last night's shenanigans!) but they make life so fulfilling. I love my kids. I hope to have many. Otherwise, what's the point?
