spumoni pie:

Here is my Banana Nutella Baked Alaska:

This pie is the bomb. But I finally had to admit to myself that a Baked Alaska, while impressive looking and tasting, is not the ideal pie for a pie party. So I will save my future Baked Alaskas for more intimate settings where it can be the main dessert. Just in case you feel like drooling, this baked alaska consists of: homemade graham cracker crust, homemade Jeni's banana ice cream, nutella, sliced bananas, and a meringue top.
Speaking of Jeni's, she is the creator of some of the best ice cream I've ever had. She started her store in Columbus and recently published an awesome recipe book with all of her recipes in it. She also tells you how to come up with your own variations and flavors. If you happen to have an ice cream maker at home (the modern kind where you keep the canister in the freezer until your ready to make ice cream), this would be an awesome mother's day/father's day gift. I plan to get myself a copy as soon as Mark starts getting paid but for now I just hoard my library's copy :)
Back to my pi party. We had a great turnout. There were some pretty amazing pies there. In fact, Mark and I didn't even bother eating dinner since we knew would be trying every single pie no matter what. Some of the pies included pear sour cream, cinnamon pie, chocolate hazelnut, and chocolate fudge. mmmmm.

The kids had a blast too--I'm pretty sure Maren ate an entire pack of cookies. And she definitely threw up several times that night.

Can't wait til next year's pi party!
