Remembering Stuart

I have a brother named Stuart who died when I was 4. He was 14. I don't really remember much about him from my own memory except I do remember him holding me and that he was always kind to me. All growing up, I always included him in all of my prayers. I think I stopped doing this some time around when I went to college. I imagine he's in a place where he doesn't need my prayers anymore but i wanted to find a way to remember him. His birthday is dec 1 and my parents celebrate it every year. Growing up we always had German chocolate cake for his day. Today I decided to restart the tradition in my family. We had a little lesson today on families and how we can be sealed together forever. We each went around and said things that we liked about our siblings. Noah likes me because I let him go to school. And Elise because she's cute. And maren because he likes to play with her in the mornings. And mark because he likes to wrestle with him. We had cake and a candle for n & m to blow out. I hope I can do this every year. Stuart was a perfect kid and I hope he can be a role model for my children as he has been for my brothers and me.

On another note, Maren finger painted today for her first time. She LOVED it! And she has renamed Jesus to Amos.

What a great idea. I think I will try to do this in our family. I want my kids to remember my brother and how special he was to me, and how important the gospel is because of the promise that we can be together again.
