A place for everything...

and everything in its place. This is my new year's resolution. Mark REALLY hates clutter and messiness--he is a minimalist--and all he asks for Christmas and his birthday every year is for his kids to get along (don't worry, we do only have one), his wife to love him, and to have a clean house.

(Extra motivation for this resolution is that I never want to see one of these again EVER in my house click here for disgusting bug picture. One of these jumped out of the sink at me after having a really bad week of not doing any dishes. I promise I won't do that again!!!!)

So, in order to meet my goal, I was going to need to find a few pieces of furniture to organize our stuff a little better. Lucky for us, the night that I was coming up with this resolution, some people down the street decided to move out and leave all of their furniture on the sidewalk. They even let us go through the rest of their stuff still in the house. They gave us some really nice storage bins, modular wire shelves, a full-length mirror, a wardrobe, and a small TV cabinet. The upstairs stuff still needs some help but I think I've done a pretty good job with our kitchen and living room. Here's the living room:

Noah got an upgrade to a bigger toy box. I cleared the top of my entertainment cabinet off and am doing really good at not stacking everything on it anymore. The picture of the barn is one that I painted recently from the Christmas/birthday/anniversary presents Mark gave me. :)

My new wardrobe--All coats and shoes and diaperbags/backpacks go in here. No more hanging EVERYTHING on the coat rack--my coat rack is going to be converted to a pot and pan hanger :)

Here's the TV cabinet. I put all the blankets in there and the side drawers hold Noah's diaper changing stuff. I also pulled it 1 1/2 ' from the wall to make use of some secret storage:)

I used the shelves from the cabinet to make these secret doors and now our food storage has its own place. Clever huh? I kinda think so.

Anyway, someday I'll get everything situated in the other rooms of the house so I can show them off too. I'm sure y'all are sitting at the edge of your seats.
