Thoughts on Time

Time is your greatest asset when trying to achieve goals.  All it takes is just a little effort every day.

Evidence in my life:

-  I look forward to exercising almost everyday of the week.  It only took me five years of small, realistic goals.  Now I am training for a 10k--something I thought I would never do because I hated running so much!

-  Noah is reading almost all by himself.  It is so fun to see him read a page in a book and get excited that he read it and it motivates him to try to read the next page.  I hope he will love reading as much as I do.

-  Noah lets me give him a piano lesson every weekday without hardly any argument.  !!!!!  He's going through songs much quicker than any of my piano students ever did (probably because their parents didn't help them practice every day.  If only they knew what little effort it could take...)

- Mark has also been practicing the piano a lot over the last few years and he is able to sight read many songs, all the way through.  We can also sight read duets together at near-normal speed.

- A few months ago, Mark and I made some significant changes in how we deal with the kids (specifically Noah) and it was really hard at first and didn't seem like it was making a difference, but now I can just feel how much calmer and less tense our home seems.  Noah has fewer tantrums and Mark and I are getting really good at being patient.

We still have a long ways to go on many of our goals but as long as I remember that great results take time, it helps me to make the small effort every day.

I have been liking your time thoughts posts. Please continue. The next time we actually get to have a conversation (not over FB or blog), I would like to hear about what you have been doing (to make fewer tantrums and less tense).
