Today I'm thankful that/for
1. Mark finishes his ED rotation on Saturday morning--only 3 more shifts! His next rotation is internal medicine which means mostly normal hours. He will have a week of night-float but I think we can handle that!
2. Locks on the outside of our kids doors. Noah very rarely needs it but we have to lock Maren in her room for quiet time and bed time or else she won't stay in her room. Tonight she threw the hugest tantrum after going to bed. I went in there to attempt to sit there with her and calm her down but I just don't know what to do. She somehow thinks that she gets candy before bed every night so first she screams about that. Then I tell her I will sing her a song. This is how it goes:
Me: Should I sing you Fait Do Do?
Min: NO! (crying) Twinkle Star!
Me: (I start singing Twinkle Twinkle)
Min: NO! (hysterical and shaking her head) Do Do!
Me: (I switch over to Fait Do Do)
Min: NO! NO! NO! Twinkle Star.
Me: Maren, what do you want?
She does this with every option I give her. I guess she is just too young to get options. It breaks my heart that I can't leave her room with her being happy or at least sweet. Oh well--she'll grow out of it. Thank goodness for that lock!
3. Morning workouts. Noah is doing a kids marathon (I think I mentioned that earlier) and so he went running with me this morning to complete part of his weekly running goal. It's pretty fun running with him. I make a game out of it for him so he gets points for jumping over manhole covers, running around trees, and jumping off rocks. He LOVES it. I also bought him a bunch of tiny gatorade bottles so he gets one after his run. He surprised me this morning by wanting to ride his bike for a couple laps before going back inside. that meant I got to run a little longer. woohoo!
4. Several hours to myself this evening (Elise was awake for part of it). I listened to my book on tape (book on ipod doesn't quite roll off the tongue) and sewed some kid aprons which hopefully I will be able to sell on my abandoned Etsy store.
5. Awesome young women in my ward that I can trust with my kids!

That is too cute that you go running with Noah! And that is EXACTLY how Ryan is at bedtime. Even the song Twinkle Twinkle- he demands I sing nothing but that, but then when I start singing it he says "No not that one!" It's insane. I'm also grateful for his lock, seriously can't imagine my life without it.
