chocolate party

2 weeks ago, a couple friends and I threw a baby shower for our friend Kate. It's her second child and since she didn't really need any gifts, we wanted to focus on the REALLY important part of any get together. FOOD!!! We had a chocolate fest. Instead of bringing presents, we told people to bring chocolate :)


Here's the spread--before the guests even came! (which means this was only a fraction of the chocolate selection)

Chocolate chip cookies, choc dipped strawberries, cake balls, chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, and the big round cake in the middle is Kate's Salty Caramel Chocolate cake (probably the best cake EVER!)


A close-up of Kate's masterpiece. Yes, Kate made a cake for her own baby shower. But since she's been on a dessert hiatus during her pregnancy, AND she loves to bake, it was more of a treat for her to make than a chore. at least that's what she thought before she started working on the cake...

Needless to say, we were all sick by the end of the night. but it was soooo delicious and worth it!
